As a hospital-based Speech-Language Pathologist, Jerra saw the same pattern over and over: patients transferred from skilled nursing facilities who had been on severely restricted diets — pureed food, thickened liquids, or nothing by mouth at all — for months, without ever having an instrumental swallow study. After evaluating them, she often found their swallow was safe and functional. These patients had been restricted unnecessarily, and their quality of life had suffered for it.

The problem was clear: facilities needed faster, easier access to gold-standard swallowing diagnostics. Hospital-based studies took months to schedule, required costly transport, pulled staff away from the building, and left patients waiting.

Jerra also understands what it means to be on the other side of care. She was once critically ill on life support in the ICU — an experience that deepened her commitment to patient advocacy. Many patients cannot speak up for themselves due to medical complexities. CA Mobile FEES exists to speak up for them.

CA Mobile FEES was founded on a simple belief: the most meaningful outcomes happen when clinical expertise is paired with a commitment to advocate for every patient.

Jerra's experience spans acute care, sub-acute care, long-term acute care, and skilled nursing facilities. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of swallowing disorders in medically complex populations.
